Yesterday I paid a visit to the ranch. For those of you who don't know me or my history, I am a farmers daughter, granddaughter, great granddaughter, and so on. My namesake, Grandma Sadie, and her husband built this house on the current Ash Ranch in Colusa County. I'm not sure what year, but I think it may have been the 1920's or earlier.
The last residents were the "Golden Girls", my great grandmother Fay, and my two great aunts Helen and Liz. They have all passed since, and the house has been empty since 2007. My uncle Brandon and Aunt Shelly have decided to renovate the old gal and make it their home. They want to create a new Ash Family home where we as a family can spend holidays, weddings and all of those wonderful family celebrations. Hoorah! It is a work in progress, one I hope to document for the next generations of my family.

Here is a photo my uncle Kevin sent of my Great Grandfather William and some other people standing on the north side of the house, I think around the 1940's.
The first photo is a the view of the house. Those are the Sutter Buttes and the new walnut orchard. I always know I'm home when I see the Buttes, and anyone from Colusa will know what I mean by that. The Buttes are our Empire State Building, Arch, Statue of Liberty. And anchor that is so beautiful and beyond words that it can only trigger a feeling in the pit of your stomach.
